Te Rūnanga o Te Rarawa is the lead organisation that has been contracted by the Ministry of Health to deliver the Healthy Families Far North initiative in the Far North District. The rūnanga operates out of its Kaitāia premises, although the rohe Healthy Families Far North operates within extends from Towai north through to Cape Reinga.

Te Taitokerau Iwi Chief Executives Consortium—comprised of seven Northern Iwi CEs from Te Rūnanga Nui o Te Aupōuri, Te Rūnanga o NgāiTakoto, Te Rūnanga o Te Rarawa, Te Rūnanga o Whaingaroa, the Ngātiwai Trust Board, Te Rūnanga-ā-Iwi o Ngāpuhi and Te Rānanga o Ngāti Whātua—provide collective Iwi governance for the initiative.

In addition, Healthy Families Far North has brought together two key groups of key stakeholders in the community that work together to improve the lives of the people of Te Tai Tokerau. The Healthy Families Far North Regional Leadership Forum and Kāhui Taupā (Prevention Partnership Groups) have the powerful ability to shift thinking and make positive decisions to improve public health practices and policy across the Far North.

We work closely with our partners engaging in sports and recreation settings so as to achieve our vision:
